Before time, before space, before anything and everything, there was nothing. A void. A space that defied all logic of space. Infinite in scope and infinite in depth. To comprehend it would be to comprehend the incomprehensible. The void, an infinite shadow of nothing.
Within the void, there existed no boundary; no point in space or time. In this place, this void, which was made out of nothing, came… something. Within that timeless moment formed of nothingness, matter and a sentience, beyond comprehension, emerged. The being which emerged was named The Architect..
This being, born of nothingness, wielding powers beyond comprehension, pushed back the endless void. They harnessed and used Their godly powers to drive away the nothingness and to create. Within this void, The Architect created a very affront to the concept. The Architect created two existences. The first creation was The Apex Plane, a place beyond the concepts of understanding, devised specifically for The Architect to reside within. After creating the Apex Plane, The Architect viewed the space and felt a deep longing. Eventually, They reached out and began to sculpt. They shaped the endless eternity into form, creating the first universe, pure and unfettered.
Despite being a concept beyond the scope of comprehension, The Architect gazed upon the empty universe and felt a sense of longing. Albeit, now within the nothingness, there was something, there was also still a lack of anything to begin with.
The Architect took Their time. They gazed outwards, into the abyss. The dark nothingness that permeated everything stuck within The Architect’s mind, and granted Them an idea.
The Architect reached outwards, Their hand scooping around the very essence of the void itself, and crushed that which was captured into an isolated, limited point. They used Their powers to sculpt the very void into a shape, resembling that of Themselves, and gazed upon this sculpture. The Architect inhaled, and then breathed life into this form. Thus, the Void primordial was born.
Born of the very unknown and beyond the concepts of both the Apex Plane and the universe itself, the Void primordial was bestowed a unique position. Oversee the endless unknown, abide over it, and maintain the unknowable. The Void primordial was born a servant to The Architect, and while they held the near-infinite power of the Void, The Architect had already conquered the void itself.
“Very well.” The Void primordial said. “I shall take this charge.”
And thus it was so. The very concept of space, distance, and all other existence stems from the very fact that they are individualized from the void. The space between atoms, the darkness of the beyond, the fear you sense from the unknown, all of these things stem from the Void primordial and their will.
Though they were the first of the primordials, they were not the first to propose combat with The Architect. Void was the second to last to fall victim to the call of Chaos, and wept for their creator when they became The Wheel.
The Void primordial, though horrific in appearance, is kind to their siblings. They believe that maintaining kindness amongst the former eight, now seven, is imperative to smooth operation of their duties and for future success in their endeavors.
As the primordial of Void, Void is capable of creating portals to the void itself and manipulating all of space around everything. Void exists within everything, even between the very atoms that comprise the eyes you use to read. It is within these things that Void exists, and may manifest themselves. Truly, it is within this nothingness that everything resides for Void.
As a part of their charge, Void may take a creature and banish them to the void, a fate worse than death. To be trapped within the void is to be stuck within a place without anything. An unconquered land of nothingness, never to be experienced. A story without a beginning, middle, or end. Trapped forever within this state, with nothing other than one’s own existence to assure them that anything is real to begin with. Only 2 beings have ever been banished to the void for their sins.
Void is the eldest of the Primordials, though this eldest position is relatively close to Order. Both Order and Void have a professional relationship, albeit Void has tried to commune and work alongside Order. The two are considered two sides of the same coin, and function together on almost all decisions.
The passage of Time in the void is difficult to quantify, as there exists nothing to measure against. It is because of this unfortunate truth that Time avoids Void. Void has attempted to close this divide between them, but to no avail. Aside from the meetings pertaining to The Wheel, Void and Time have not spoken directly to each other in eons.
Eternity is the most playful of the eight, and commonly communicates with Void. It is not uncommon to find Void and Eternity communing with each other on various topics and concepts. Eternity is the only other primordial who knows about one of the beings that have been banished to the void.
Life and Void are commonly found to be arguing, despite their stations intertwining with each other quite often. Life’s station charges them with creation whilst Void’s station charges them with leaving nothingness. The two are almost constantly at odds about how things should be handled, yet neither holds a grudge against the other. Both observe their stations as an unfortunate obstacle in their relationship.
Death and Void are good friends, despite Void’s opinion that Death is too brash. Void has scolded Death on the way that they manage their station on multiple occasions, and has commonly argued with Death about what the nature of the after death plane is even supposed to be. In the end, Void respects Death’s charge and does not intervene, though they are commonly found to be observing from a distance.
Void and Destiny originally were quite close. Destiny would look to Void to assist them in making decisions, and on how to guide the universe’s inhabitants towards their destinies. After all, the space that one finds in life while on the path of their destiny could be considered a void, and thus the two worked alongside each other until Destiny succumbed to Chaos and was obliterated by The Creator with the power of The Wheel.
The Creator, formerly referred to as Fate, and Void are well acquainted. Fate was the last of the primordials to be born, as well as the last to succumb to the temptation of Chaos. Fate represents finality, as well as a certainty which exists within direct opposition to Void. Despite their opposition, both have immense respect for the other. Ever since Fate took the role of The Creator, Void has deferred to them over any topics pertaining to the universes.
