In the distant nothingness that is the Apex Plane, the primordial beings reside. Each being, beyond the concepts herewith found inside of the universe as they stand, spends their existence within a “domain” of sorts which they choose to abide inside of. This is, of course, not a limitation of these beings, but more so a choice that can be amended at any given point. These beings are beyond the concepts of limitations as we know them, and their domains are the same.
This is why, today, we must discuss the domain of a being which is rather unfathomable, given our limited comprehension of all things as it were. Eternity. Or rather, the primordial responsible for… well… eternity itself. This is, of course, not to be confused with Time, who has their own domain which we shall not touch upon here today. In this brief perusal however, I hope that we shall have a further understanding of something that is quite literally impossible for us to understand.
To begin, one must understand the behavior of the primordial of eternity (henceforth shortened simply to “Eternity” for brevity's sake), and how that relates to their personality. As a being that is not on the level of a primordial such as Eternity, an attempt to fully postulate about their personality and thoughts would be foolhardy at best. We can only make generalizations based on assumptions and slight observances, which may not even be actual observations to begin with. There are many fellows who give their testimonials whilst on medicinal herbs and mushrooms after all.
While it has been cogitated by many scholars that there may be something beyond. That something, which is referred to as the Apex Plane as stated earlier where the hypothetical primordial beings reside, has also been believed that there are beings that exist beyond ourselves that preside over esoteric concepts which must exist within all things to have other things exist simultaneously. An example of this concept would be that sand cannot exist without rocks. In this argument, the existence of a “primordial” must be assumed which presides over a specific concept that otherwise cannot exist from the perspective of a God. While Spaceinvader may preside over thunder, who presides over the existence of Spaceinvader? This is where the primordials come into place, and where their domains come in as well. Eternity, the primordial who abides over the ever existing cycle of all things, presides in what one may refer to as “chaos.”
The chaos of Eternity is not something that is literal, but metaphorical. Eternity is untouched by the passage of time, and instead views all things on the ever revolving expanse of everything. Within the domain of Eternity, where one could expect a clock, or a wheel, or a library, one simply finds an infinite expanse of endless thoughts. Every thought, placed upon a pedestal, captured from the moment of conception to the dying breath, resides within the domain of Eternity. They walk their halls, gazing into these thoughts and absorbing them without a care. The forgotten idea when one walks through a doorway, the lost love’s face from many years ago, the name of a song that one remembers the beat of, all robbed and placed into the domain of Eternity. They observe every last thought, memory, and idea eternally in a cycle. One cannot understand the exact reasoning behind this, and Eternity themselves has never told their siblings why they do these things either. It is simply to be understood that Eternity does this, and that is how it is. Quite esoteric, isn’t it? Though, as was stated prior, to postulate on the reasonings behind the primordials and their behavior is a fool's errand, and will simply result in more questions than answers.
If I may be so arrogant as to state my own opinion for even just a moment or two, I would go so far as to state that I believe Eternity collects the thoughts, ideas, and memories of the finite kind simply out of a desire for an anchor. To constantly observe the cycle of all things endlessly, without rhyme or reason, and merely to understand that the cycle must continue onward forevermore may be… taxing. To believe that something matters is to believe that there is a reason for something to have been. Observing directly that all things cycle, and therefore have no meaning, may be incredibly difficult to deal with in the long-term. This is, of course, my own idea and may not live up to scrutiny. I have never met, or even confirmed the existence of Eternity nor the other primordials or even the Apex Plane! I can simply philosophise about these potential beings and their potential musings. Even I, as a finite being, can think about how a being so far beyond us can feel.
These thoughts and memories may also be linked to other universes. For a being such as Eternity to exist within a plane beyond our own, they may be able to observe universes other than ours. Who is to say that we are the first, or even the last? Who is even there to say that we are here to begin with, and not simply a thought of a being far beyond our own comprehension? There is no definitive answer, and that is partially what makes it so enjoyable to think about these things.
I question if Eternity has ever invited another being into their domain, or if there are beings that exist within their domain to begin with. Does Eternity desire solitude, or do they desire companionship? Perhaps Eternity views companionship as fleeting, and stays “beyond” that concept as to avoid any feelings which may be associated with them to begin with? Life may be happy with creating, and Death may be happy with taking, but Eternity exists beyond that scale. Eternity always was, always is, and always will be. Within their very nature, one finds it impossible to fully grasp the understanding that Eternity has over all things. This hall of thoughts, ideas, and memories is a mere glimpse into their mind, and may be linked to a much more powerful idea behind their own understanding of existence. What is there to say of a creature who sees all, choosing to anchor themselves in specifics? For a forest to pluck a leaf off a tree and to observe the veins within? What do these thoughts say of the being that presides over all things?
Perhaps Eternity views this isolation as a curse. To be charged with the task of overseeing all things that were and shall be simultaneously, one may know how something shall begin and end all at once. To know if an activity is worth trying and what it shall result in takes the desire out of that activity to begin with, and to be robbed of that satisfaction makes one lack the very drive to exist. That is why I propose that Eternity keeps these memories, thoughts, and ideas. Eternity wishes to understand on a level that we can. As an anchor to keep one stationed in one place, but also as a method of understanding why one would think in that very way to begin with. The primordials are beyond all of us, but perhaps that doesn’t drive them to be more, but to be less? Perhaps there is a great grief that they hold which they blame their stations for? Perhaps, in their existence, they wish to be more like us? Inversely to how the wealthy wish for more wealth, the primordials wish to be less than what they are?
Truly, it is fascinating to postulate about these hypothetical beings. A world in which a creature of such esoteric levels goes to such lengths is one that I believe we reside in. It brings me joy to think that even a being as small as myself may impact a creature as large as this.
